Page Management

I programmed the site to be mostly configurable with a secure admin area. Each page can be edited by the client and the client has the opportunity to add a page to a category represented by the top global navigational bar. The menu is dynamically updated with any new page additions or deletions for that matter.

Notifications

When the secondary admin user makes a change in the admin area, an email is sent to the primary admin user notifying the primary admin user that summarizes the change or changes that have been made during the secondary user’s admin session.

News and Events

Admin can add, edit, or remove news and event items. The homepage pulls the more recent news items from the database and displays them. When displaying the items on the front-end, they are paginated.

Featured Inventory

Admin can add, edit, or remove a featured inventory item. The admin area allows for image uploads as well as a tool to rearrange the featured inventory display order.

Gift Shop

This section is a comprehensive e-commerce component. All products have admin capabilities. Checkout happens on a secure URL.

The Gift Shop is divided into categories. The user is able to go to a category from the popup menus off the top-level navigation and from the Gift Shop home page. Each product category displays up to nine product thumbnails, after which pagination occurs allowing users to click to the next or previous (when applicable) page of product thumbnails. 

The Gift Shop home page has an area for introductory text and special messages that can be controlled by the admin user with a page editor tool.

Tax is charged on orders with a New Mexico state shipping address. That rate can be set in the admin area.

In checkout, users enter shipping and billing information, and then enter credit card number and CCV code (accepted methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), then see a verification page that allows the user to edit any of the information entered or edit items in the shopping cart and then continue back to the verification page with the order intact and ready to submit. Once all information is accurate the order is submitted and the user sees a receipt page with a thank you message, order number, and summary of the order.

All orders generate an email notifying the client of a new order. To retrieve the order, the designated admin user accesses the order from the order management section of the website administration area and can mark an order as fulfilled.

Admin Controlled Forms

Users are able to fill out forms on the website for contacting Allan Houser Inc. to send a comment, question, or suggestion, sending a Resale Consignment Interest form, and sending an Insurance Valuation form.

The data gathered in the forms are emailed to a designated email address at Allan Houser Inc. The forms use Captcha verification to curtail spam.

All forms have a response page the user sees after sending the form. The admin user controls the content on the response forms.

All forms will have space for introductory text (one or two paragraphs) at the top of the page. The admin user can control this text.
